Manifesting True Success Day 9: Every Choice Can Be Smart Danielle Rogers March 25, 2015 Enlightenment, Spirituality, Words of Wisdom Manifesting True Success is a 21-Day Guided Meditation created by Oprah Winfrey & Deepak Chopra, to learn more click here. “Pearls don’t lie on the seashore. If you want one, you must dive for it.” -Chinese proverb Today’s meditation focuses on the first concept from the S-M-A-R-T acronym. The letter S is for “stretching more than you can reach.” This means not only being open to new ideas, approaches, and practices, but being willing to explore them and try them out. Stretching more than you can reach requires curiosity about the world and a desire to go beyond the limitations of your present knowledge and experience. This mental stretching prepares your mind for making smart choices in every circumstance that arises in your day, just as stretching before a workout prepares your muscles for whatever exercise you will be doing. CENTERING THOUGHT: I make smarter choices every day. Today’s meditation teaches us the value of stretching our ideas before making a decision. Write in your journal your ideas on what “stretching” means when it comes to making smart choices. Stretching your ideas before making a decision is the basis of Introspect Over Impulse. It’s the act of processing any situation at hand and thinking before your speak or act. Or you can look at it as lack of action before you give yourself the proper timeframe to act from a centered place and not an impulsive one. 2.) Practice mental stretching with a decision that you are currently working on. Perhaps it’s buying a car, in which case you could consider other cars or ownership options you may not have thought of before, and talk to people who may not be car experts, but who have a point of view that could be useful. Write down how opening up to new perspectives can help you make a smarter decision. Opening up to new perspectives helps us to make smarter decisions because even after we have gone through a period of introspect, it is possible for us to still act based off of emotions that may linger. Maybe you need some work done on your home and you have someone quote you a price, you can either go with that price or get another another estimate to see if you can catch a better deal. I recently had an experience with this over the weekend and seeking an alternate option actually provided me a more cost efficient route along with solving the issue at hand. Always inform yourself and seek out options. 3.) Reflect on how flexible thinking can keep your decision process fluid and not stuck behind an obstacle. Write down an experience you had where an apparent solution had hit a wall, but your mind didn’t stop and eventually came up with a creative way around the obstacle. Before my site was back up and running most of my social media posts were advertising merchandise along with random LAME Way Notes. I didn’t want to overwhelm my timeline or myself so I came up with a posting schedule which wound up helping me twice over. In the process of coming up with a system, I generated something that easily worked for me and was able to give me site content as well. As a result of this I have become more consistent in my posting which has increased my work ethic. Seeing my work ethic increase has built my confidence and more opportunities have been coming my way. 4.) Daily Reflection: Being open minded can breathe new life into you every day just as being closed minded can hinder you from so many things you may not even know exist. People say you can’t miss what you’ve never had but I think that’s wrong. I think there’s things in the world can that pull at our heart strings because they are tied to a dream that is buried deep within us. Fear often keeps us boxed in and afraid to explore and experience new things whether we ultimately grow fond of them or not. Don’t allow fear and static thinking be the reason you miss out on opportunity, relationships, and living a fulfilled life. Before we make any decision our first place of council should be within and of course we can seek assistance from a trusted opinion but ultimately the choice lies with us. Place yourself in the proper position to make the best decisions for you by educating yourself on more than what you may be surrounded by. Live your best life and live it abundantly.
