Living in grace is for everyone, not just for those who feel called to a secluded life of prayer and devotion. Grace is everywhere all the time. To fully live in the state of grace only requires that we allow our true self to shine forth.

In today’s meditation, we learn that we attain this state by simply being it, which means we naturally and effortless live an open life of gratitude. That is how we become a complete person. We embody a life in grace by acting from a spirit of generosity and wholeness.

CENTERING THOUGHT: By living my wholeness, I become complete.

SANSKRIT MANTRA: Om Purnam Idam (Individuality is wholeness).

1.) Write down the names of anyone you have been more generous and kind toward in the last two weeks. Describe how these situations came to pass.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t think I’ve extended my generosity much in the past week or so. Between the anxiety of making sure my last endeavor went properly and just an overall air of negative energy that I carried with me, I would say I could have been much more pleasant to others in the past week. Since then I have gone above and beyond to be a little more patient with my loved ones and keep my energy light but I would be lying if I said I’ve been ideal and kind.

2.) Make a list of three circumstances in your life that you would like to be able to accept or surrender to. Most likely, these will be situations you feel the need to control or be in charge of. Write down how learning to find gratitude in the situation can help you let go or surrender.

  1. There’s some things I need to fully forgive and move forward from.
  2. The fact that I cannot control what others say and do or the lack thereof.
  3. I would just like to fully surrender to the present and not hold in the past or worry about the future.

Finding gratitude in these things first comes with appreciating where I am and what I have now. No matter how things made me feel in the past and even today, I would not be where I am or have the things that I have (not material things) had it not been for the experiences I had to fight my way through. If I can be fully happy with my present it is because I respect and honor my past.

3.) Now call to mind three experiences in which you were generous or able to surrender, and write down how that felt.

  1. The ability to move forward in relationships and friendships.
  2. My willingness to always be of service to others.
  3. Each time I push past my comfort zone.

Although those things are all different they all stem from the decision to not be overwhelmed by fear. Surpassing my fears in work and relationships go hand in hand and when I fail to push past my comfort zones in one regard, other areas of my life tend to become affected. Fighting past your fears and letting go of pain is a constant struggle that no one is above.

4.) Daily Reflection:

I accept myself where I am and I accept others for who they are. Focusing on my wholeness allows me to see the fullness in others. When my insecurities try to arise, finding fault in others will not make me whole. I respect the various places others may be on their paths and I will continue to push past my comfort zones.
