The heaviness of our burdens comes from our attachment to past pain and trauma, as well as anxiety and fear of the future. As we learn to live consciously in the present moment, we find we don’t have to do anything to let go of burdens of pain and fear – they let go of us. Our natural state of balance in life is lightness and ease. “Shedding the Weight: Mind, Body and Spirit” is a 21-Day Guided Meditation created by Oprah Winfrey & Deepak Chopra, to learn more click here. CENTERING THOUGHT: I am endlessly renewed in the present moment. SANSKRIT MANTRA: Om Svayam Agurutva (Lightness is my true self.) 1.) Write down what felt heavy and resistant to you today, not just physically but emotionally as well. Today for some reason my body felt light as did my spirit but my mind was a little weighted. Sometimes when we think about our minds being weighted, we often correlate this to negative feelings. As discussed in yesterday as well as today’s meditation sometimes that weight can come from thinking on the future and we feel needs to be done urgently. However, today my resistance didn’t come from neither the past nor the future but from the messages and mental pictures I received while meditating. Everything we are looking for can be found in stillness and through the rituals that we come to find work best for us. When we receive these messages, it can be natural tell ourselves, “okay I got the message, let’s get moving!” Yes, we may see the answers that we seek or a resolution to our problems but we also must sit in that and be open to “how”, “what”, “who” and “where” that can also be given in context clues. What good is the message if we prematurely share it with the wrong people? How effective will the cause be if we use the wrong resources just to seize an opportunity? Not only do we have to be open to our purpose but we have to be patient and obedient to receive the direction that is best for us to take. 2.) Describe your most effective tool for removing any feelings of heaviness. It could be taking an aromatherapy bath, or going salsa dancing. Sometimes heaviness can be paralleled with anxiety, resentment, or any other negative feeling that can overcome us and drag us to the places we seek to escape or have worked hard to grow through. I value my alone time and I find that is the most effective way for me to ease my anxieties and remove the heaviness from my life. The methods in which I use during this alone time can vary based on circumstance and the cause of suffocation I may feel. Sometimes it’s music that helps me escape, other times its aromatherapy, and other times it can be just hanging having a night of fun. Although alone time is great, it may not be what I need every time. In those instances I seek to be in the company of those who’s presence either pour love into me, those who bring the love I have inside to the forefront, or those who inspire me in some way or another. That inspiration can come from fun, work, or simply just allowing me to be myself no matter what condition I may be in at the moment. 3.) Write a short description of the moment today when you felt you were most fully engaged in the present. Also describe your state of mind – was it peaceful, alert, receptive? I actually feel like I am in the moment right now. I feel peaceful, productive, aware, and light. There is a calmness in and around me. When I am in this state of mind and being my creativity is abundant and my vision is clearer. Not only is my vision clearer but so is the path in which to make my dreams come true. 4.) Daily Reflection: When I put myself and my work first my life balances itself out. As I quiet my mind and meditate on the messages that are meant for me to receive, I pray for the discipline to see the message through. I pray for the keen ears to hear the directions that will guide me to the abundant life that is meant for me. I pray that kind words leave my mouth and although negative thoughts can cross my mind, I pray that they pass through making room for life, wellness, and creativity to take root in me. I pray to connect and receive exposure through social media but to not be consumed or ruled by it. I vow to protect my privacy and vision but not only being cautious of what I put out but also by the things I take in. My desire is to be unapologetically me to the point where I am not concerned about the lack of authenticity that others possess. Let me observe yet not internalize. Let me be vulnerable in my production but strong in myself. I pray my feet stay grounded and my spirit light so it can flow with God’s plan for me like a feather blowing in a gentle wind. “Shedding the Weight: Mind, Body and Spirit” is a 21-Day Guided Meditation created by Oprah Winfrey & Deepak Chopra, to learn more click here.
