If you are attentive, you will see it.” ― Thích Nhất Hạnh Mind and body only live in the present. And in today’s meditation, we discover that the present moment holds tremendous organizing power in life, like a magnetic force. The power of our ever-present awareness automatically instills a sense of calm and happiness. We heal this moment in time by centering ourselves and finding the place of peace, joy, and pure being. You can apply self-awareness and quickly learn when you are present and when you aren’t. This allows you to restore yourself to “the now” any time you want. “Shedding the Weight: Mind, Body and Spirit” is a 21-Day Guided Meditation created by Oprah Winfrey & Deepak Chopra, to learn more click here. CENTERING THOUGHT: I am drawn into the present moment with ease and joy. SANSKRIT MANTRA: Om Hreem (Life is one unified wholeness). 1.) What were the moments today when you felt most present? These would be marked by feeling happy, free, unburdened, accepted, alive, creative, and filled with energy. Reinforce how good it felt to be present. Today I felt most present when I spent the majority of my day on someone else time although there we pertinent things that I needed to handle. I chose to remain calm and do what I could as the time passed without allowing negative emotions and feelings to manifest within me. 2.) Write down the moments today when you were pulled out of the now by distractions, discomfort in your body, bad memories, habits, other people’s words, negative emotions, or stress. I was almost pulled out of my “Now” space due to a miscommunication that resulted in my plans being altered. I normally would have completely unraveled and allowed myself to exist in a place of anger. I instead chose to accept what my day had become, came up with a solution to my problem, and still managed to get my tasks handled. 3.) Describe three ways to decrease these influences that took you out of the present moment. For example, you could make your work space quieter or turn off your smartphone for a while. Better communication. Relying on myself first and foremost. Asking for help when I cannot help myself. 4.) Daily Reflection: Today was a minor test, one that I have experienced before. The difference with today is that I chose to be patient and when I felt my patience was taken for granted, I opted to not become angry but to communicate my dissatisfaction. In communicating my dissatisfaction, I also let the other parties involved know that it was ok to have communications along the way and that I would solve the issue at hand myself. Choosing with remain level headed and not acting irrationally more than likely allowed that relationship to not experience dissension. Although my plans were altered everything remained ok; I was able to still handle my affairs, just not on the time table in which I had envisioned. We have to tell ourselves that yes we may have plans in life but sometimes those plans have the possibility to become misconstrued for some reason or another. This is perfectly ok, everything happens how and when it should. “Shedding the Weight: Mind, Body and Spirit” is a 21-Day Guided Meditation created by Oprah Winfrey & Deepak Chopra, to learn more click here.
