“This world is in deep trouble, but it can be swiftly healed by the balm of love.” ― Rumi

In today’s meditation, we learn about the transformative power of love.

Love is the essence of the true self. If you can act from a space of love, you bypass the judgments and burdens of the ego. So expressing compassion, forgiveness, kindness, and a sense of purpose comes easily.

Love expresses itself with tenderness, but it also provides great inner strength.

CENTERING THOUGHT: I find myself in a world created by love.

SANSKRIT MANTRA: Aham Prema (I am love).

1.) The spiritual side of love is more than a personal feeling or emotion. Write down the moments today when you experienced any of the following values of higher love: compassion, forgiveness, kindness, tolerance, and non-judgment.

Today I not only experienced but I also participated in higher love. My experiences with life, death, hospitals, and sickness hasn’t been a fun one. After the passing of my mother I wouldn’t drive past a hospital if I could help it, let alone go inside of one. The funny thing about life is that it will make you face your fears and drag you through your comfort zones. So after the passing of my mother, six years later I found myself dealing with something similar with my grandmother. Shortly after dealing with that, I found myself dealing with the same thing in regards to my father. In those instances I had to put myself aside and be there because they had no one else. However on today, I CHOSE to step foot in a hospital to visit my aunt. My compassion to her situation and her appreciation for my being there with a major thing for me. It was healing for my soul and I’m sure it uplifted her spirit. So often we are worried about what we “don’t do” or what we “don’t like” that we don’t realize that we are depriving others of love deserved and support that they may need.

2.) Pick one value of higher love you would like to experience more. Describe ways in which you can experience this value more in your life. For example, if you choose non-judgment, you could spend more time with friends and family who accept and support you, just as you are.

I would like to experience forgiveness a lot more. Although I have moved past a lot of things in my life, things that I have done to others and things that they have done to me, I still at times hold resentment and disdain in my heart. This is something that I have been experiencing lately and the more I attempt to fight it, the more it grows. I don’t know how to move past it or to let it go or I sincerely would but the emotions that it stirs up in me are not healthy nor conducive to my lifestyle.

3.) Journal about how you can help others experience this same value, giving the gift of love to someone else.

I can help others experience this same value by letting go. I cannot be an example to others if my behaviors are marred by negative feelings that I choose to not shake. I can give love where its deserving and I can give forgiveness where I feel it isn’t.

4.) Daily Reflection:

I know what’s right and what’s wrong. I don’t have anything to prove to anyone and I am grateful for my life. However, if I don’t let go of some things I will not be able to grow to the places and positions that I envision for myself and my company. I will not be able to receive the love that I deserve having nor will I be able to reciprocate it in it’s purest form. I choose love and I hope that love is so strong that it allows me to fully forgive.
