“Because one is content with oneself, one doesn’t need others’ approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.” ― Lao Tzu

The mind game consists of the tricks your mind plays on you, making you see reality according to old memories, fears, wounds, prejudices, outworn beliefs, second-hand opinions, and early conditioning. When you are aware your mind is filtering your reality based on the past, you can change it with that awareness. In fact, awareness is the change.

Our meditation today brings us into present awareness.

CENTERING THOUGHT: I accept where I am, here and now.

SANSKRIT MANTRA: Samprati Hum (My true self is wide awake).

1.) Reflect on a fear or anxiety that you have had for a long time. Describe how it began, then make a note of any benefit you have gained from this negative feeling. For example, did it make you feel safer or protect you from harm?

For a long time I had this strange fear that I would die at a young age. So much that I allowed it to shape my reality. Although I knew in my heart and via the words of others that it wasn’t going to happen I rested on that notion. I think it was easier for me to manifest and believe this as truth because of the real fear that lingered. The fear that I would have to face a long life without the guidance or crutch that I had been used to leaning on which was my mom. This feat did not protect me nor did it make me feel safe. It caused me to live with reckless abandonment and no regards for myself or others.

2.) Describe any drawbacks you have experienced from this same fear or anxiety. For example, did it keep you in worry or create even more fears?

Everything that took place in my life was a direct result of this one looming fear. The only perk I can say that I gained from it was simply the ability and willingness to just live. Everything that “they” said we should do or being doing at certain periods in our lives, I was always doing the opposite. This has caused me to rate money, time, and opportunities. However I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything. The opportunities that I want that coincide with the life that I want to live are constantly being laid before me.

3.) Write about what you have discovered in this exercise and how you now see this fear or anxiety in a new light. This is what winning the mind game means – shining the light of awareness into your unconscious habits. You can also apply the same method to any old wounds, traumas, and problems that have persisted for years without change.

I’ve discovered that the thing we think we fear isn’t usually the root of our anxiety. More than anything its a story we have created as a direct result of the real fear that lingers in our hearts. When we accept reality for what it is, we have a better chance of facing and conquering the real fear that can hold us back in life as opposed to creating some story as to why we cannot live our lives to their fullest potentials.

4.) Daily Reflection:

I AM FEARLESS & I MAKE FEARLESS DECISIONS DAILY.
